Rescue
Below are details of Australian Cattle Dogs that are currently looking for a good home. If you would like to provide that home, please contact our rescue co-ordinator Stella Smyth by phone on (0118) 979 3399 or via email acdsecretary@gmail.com
Dogs that come in for rehoming usually do so because there have been issues in their previous homes. These may be specific to the previous home (not getting on with another family dog for example) or may be separation anxiety or more general, pushy cattle dog behaviour. You will need to have the experience, time and energy to help a dog settle in to your home. It can be immensely rewarding but also can be hard work.
If you are considering rehoming your Australian Cattle Dog, please contact the dog’s breeder in the first instance. If you are unable to make contact with them, please contact Stella Smyth as above.
Please note: ACD rescue is run exclusively by breed enthusiasts in their own time using money from their own pockets. As such, the ACD Society has a separate Welfare Account which holds funds to assist with the costs of rehoming ACDs where needed. To make a donation to the Welfare Account, please contact our treasurer by email on: hilarypowell63@icloud.com

Wolf is a 3.5 years old blue cattle dog who was bought from a farm in Warrington and the owner has had him since he was 9 weeks old. The owner has this to say about him: “He has never worked on a farm and has grown up in Flint North Wales. Most of his exercise comes in the form of walks, fetch and runs beside me but he does love to go camping and do through hiking. He is reactive with male dogs specifically and is intact. He has a bite record, as he can be quite anxious and if warning signs are not noticed he has bitten me once in the last 2 years and my brother once a few months ago. Wolf is often when it’s just me and him, brilliant. He definitely requires a lot of work daily (less as he’s getting older) but he’s really well behaved. He has been able to make friends with a lot of dogs, and has been great with a few males, but generally all females he gets along with great. He can be a bit overbearing with other dogs when he gets to playing though.”
My impression is that Wolf has typical ACD reactivity to some other dogs and can redirect when aroused. He also had some resource guarding issues which have been worked on so that would need to be kept up. If anyone would like to know more about him then please contact Rhys on 07549 523196. I would not recommend that he go to a home with children. Wolf is currently in North Wales.
Have you seen an Australian Cattle Dog advertised looking for a home? Or spotted one in a rescue somewhere? Do please contact acdsecretary@gmail.com so that we may be able to pass on enquiries to the relevant rescue in the hope of helping to match a dog with a new home.
